What We’re Listening To This Week

Steve’s got these on repeat:

Pier 69 – Village

Was feeling electronic tunes / beats this week and stumbled onto this gem. Track samples lyrics from one my favorite tracks by Nav, “Minute.”

Creature Comforted – Local H

Was fortunate to see Local H on Thursday evening at the Warehouse on Watts (sick venue, stay tuned for the SITW), but of all the awesome tracks off this album (Here Comes The Zoo), this was my favorite and it’s gnarly.

Am I Evil – Diamond Head

A classic track that’s been covered by other metal bands like Metallica, the intro to this track is a rollercoaster of sonic pleasure. Harmonics, solos, chugging chords–it has it all.

Gianca’s spinning:

Epitaph – King Crimson

Album: In The Court of The Crimson King. One of my favorite acoustic plays ever in music. I love the whole premise of this track. The keys and drums are so deliberate. The combo of the two guitars is so beautiful.

Another Space Song – Failure

FUCK YES, the bass line on this song goes hard, and the guitar lead chords are so iconic. If you have yet to hear of Failure, you are missing out. Vocals are tranquil, maybe serene but cut deep and wide. AND I WON’T LET HER DOWN. MY SOUL IS CELESTIAL NOW. AND IF IM NEVER FOUND, SHE’LL ALWAYS BE….SHEEEEE SEEES

Materialism as a Mean to an End – $uicideboy$

Album: Long Term Effects of Suffering: 50k on the chain..chain..chain. The beat goes insane. Raw and the bass is booming; I hear it kissing my ear in my headphones. $ crim’s delivery is cold and smooth, and his lyrics are devilish. Ruby slides in with a buttery verse as well. Check it out.

SONG OF THE WEEK

Angry Chair – Alice In Chains

The 7’s tragic obsession, Layne’s lyrics are drawn and ominous, saturated with pain. Jerry crushes this tune, with a menacing riff and face-melting solo, which meld with Layne’s delivery. We chose the version with Scott Weiland on the vocals, another talented lead man of STP fame who left this world too soon.
