The Sicilian Slice

What We’re Listening To This Week

Steve’s got these on repeat:

If Only – Queens of the Stone Age

I love me some QUOTSA, especially Homme’s work on lead and vocals. Their standard tuning is heavy and strange and make’s for some entertaining, albeit perplexing sonic dissonance.

Consecration – Oldest Sea

Localish band that we were introduced to at Heavy Metal yoga, which is on Monday evenings along the ave for the curious.

No Giving Up – Crossfade

Off their self-titled debut album, this song absolutely slaps. The alum spawned many popular singles, but listening through the entire album exposes the raw, pure alt-rock that we grew up listening to during the late 90s and early 2000s. This track is my favorite by far, but the whole album is killer.

Gianca’s spinning:

Subway Song – Julianna Zachariou

A simple acoustic song about my home, feeling nostalgic as Julianna paints a beautiful photo of a ballad occurring on the subway. I miss New York.

Space Oddity – David Bowie

Bowie is one of my favorite artists, but this song will always have a special place in my heart. Commencing countdown, engines on…it’s a classic and one of the best from his discography.

Carrollton – $uicideboy$

I want to die in New Orleans dropped during the most challenging finals weeks of my life in college. This song made me feel like I was gonna slay every beast in my path; the bars from Scrim and Ruby are HARD, and the beat is buttery smooth. This Sicilian approves.

SONG OF THE WEEK

Echos – Pink Floyd

Twenty-three minutes and thirty-two seconds of cathartic brilliance.

Strangers passing in the street, by chance, two separate glances meet, and I am you and what I see is me…
