The Sicilian Slice

What We’re Listening To This Week

Steve’s got these on repeat:

Tension – Wine Lips

Wine Lips is a band that has grit, and I really appreciate that. Big sound, nasally vox, and back against the wall, street fight tempo; I would enjoy seeing this band live.

Seven – Men I Trust

It’s so damn difficult (dramatic pause between those) to pick Men I Trust track for this week’s slice. I am smitten by Emma’s guitar tone, it captures you with an incredibly lush, cavernous, dreamlike progression and then rips your heart out with a fuzz, hole-in-your-speaker guitar solo. Her vocals are throaty and delicate, like laying your head down on a plush pillow.

Canary In A Coalmine – The Police

Zenyatta Mondatta really cemented itself as my favorite Police album. While this isn’t my favorite track off the record (the song prior to it is actually), it’s just too superb to pass up.

Gianca’s spinning:

Gas Drawls – MF Doom

Combine one of my favorite lyricists, some Steely Dan sampling, and an absolutely classic beat, and you get Gas Drawls. Doom really is one of the greatest rappers of all time. Still quick to slice squares like Sicilian…

Fritz’s Corner – Local H

Heavy, hits like a truck; why doesn’t Local H ever miss, who let them keep getting away with this. It’s also totally insane that the frontman of this band covers guitar and bass by adding an extra pickup to his guitar.

Rusty Cage – Soundgarden

I’m gonna break out of my rusty cage and runnnnnnnnn
