What We’re Listening To This Week

Steve’s got these on repeat:

Heartbeat, Pt. 2 – The Halls

Starting off with some lighter fare this week, The Halls are serving up a saucy dish with a smooth and funky finish.

Have a Cigar – Doom Side of the Moon

Sludgy, stoner doom Pink Floyd covers do be hitting this week. Kyle Shutt of Sword fame brings together a lovely take on Dark Side of the Moon and some choice tunes from Wish You Were Here and Animals. This is one of my favorites, but the entirety of both albums is worthwhile.

Aphotic Blues – Elephant Tree

I’ve been listening to the Elephant Tree’s self-tilted all week. It is one hundred percent doom and gloom accented with sharp crescendos over the course of the longer format tracks that you’d expect.

Gianca’s spinning:

Work Song – Hozier

Yes, we just discovered that Hozier is one person. This song is super sweet and has impressive vocals throughout.

Steg etter steg – Agabas

Norwegian death jazz metal is something I never thought I would accidentally stumble across. So hard-hitting, so jazzy, the transitions are ridiculous. Why is saxophone over a death metal riff so perfect.

Fortress – Modern Color

Need Modern Color tickets.

SONG OF THE WEEK

Walking On Ice – Last Dinosaurs

LD just dropped the RYU EP TODAY, so this is certified FRESH. This is one of our favorite tracks off the EP, but keep a look out for a new Ravioli Review coming soon.
