The Sicilian Slice

What We’re Listening To This Week

After a hiatus, the Sicilians are back. Let us indulge you with seven tracks to grace your feeds with some acoustic appetizers, main bites, and an unctuous dessert of tunes.

Steve’s got these on repeat:

You Wouldn’t Believe – 311

One of my favorite albums of the early aughts, 311’s sound is still raw, uncut, gritty. Track three hits you with Hexum laying down some sultry volcals with PNut throwing down a phat bassline. I’ve recently revisited most of these albums, and it’s had my transfixxed.

Mountain at My Gates – Foals

I’ll always have a soft spot for Foals and if you’re unfamiliar I suggest checking out the live version of My Number at Glastonbury in 2019. It’s life changing.

Private Landing – Don Toliver

I am continually impressed by Don and the breadth of musical styles he covers. Love Sick has been on repeat since it crept into my Spotify recently played. The features don’t hurt, with Beebs and Future laying down a fitting supporting accouterment to this track.

Gianca’s spinning:

Blood and Thunder – Mastodon

Yeah, you know we’re back, coming in with songs that will make you run through walls. Absolutely ripping riffs and drums that will make anyone excited. Bill Kelliher shows off his guitar versatility, while Brann’s drums are the framework for such an iconic Mastodon track.

It’s a Long Way to the Top – AC/DC

I was watching the School of Rock with my girlfriend, and now I cannot get this song out of my head. It’s such an underrated AC/DC song. Just such a banger, great vocals, great bagpipes, and a fun song.

All Night – Men I Trust

Thinking about when Steve and I saw this live, and it was identical to the studio version. The intro to this track, with the insane bass line paired with the chords, really does it for me. The entire track makes me feel like I’m floating in water with not a single thought. Only vibes
